Donivan Howard
Donivan Howard, born a native Detroit, began his artistic
career at a very early age. The influence of fantasy fine art
provided the motivation for drawing and painting. Donivan has
an impressive amount of accolades, earning a BFA in Illustration
at the Art Center College OF Design in Pasadena, CA and completing
his MFA from California State Fullerton.
After graduating from Art Center, he worked as a conceptual
designer and artist for movies and theme parks. He has worked
for such companies as Disney Feature Animation, creating the
films Fantasia 2000, Emperor’s New Groove, and Treasure
Planet. Donivan has also worked as concept designer with Paramount
Studios, Rhythm and Hues, and BRC Entertainment.
Donivan has enjoyed all the many areas of art, from fine art
to the entertainment arts, but his love has been in creating
narrative stories and figurative imagery in the fine arts. Today,
He is capturing the narrative and classical approach to the
figure with dramatic light, texture and space. He is influenced
by such artist such as Nicolai Fechin, Rembrant, and NC Wyeth.
His work is realistic and bold, but warm to the viewer.
