Sidney Guberman
Born Greenville, South Carolina, 1936
Secondary education: Phillips Exeter Academy
College: Princeton, BA, 1958
Graduate School: University of Pennsylvania, March, 1967
1969 Left the practice of Architecture to paint full-time.
1971 Moved with family to Lausanne, Switzerland, where we lived
for four and one half years. Teaching in Switzerland included
two years
each at:
Ecole Cantonale des Beaux Arts,
Ecole Polytechnique Federale a Lausanne.
During his four and one half year Swiss period he taught painting,
drawing, and color theory, and in a studio in an industrial section
of Lausanne continued to make paintings and works on paper. During
the time in Switzerland he had a dozen one-man exhibitions and
was included in several group exhibitions. He returned to America
in the fall of 1975.
Since his first one-man exhibition at The Owen Gallery in Denver
in 1970, he has been involved in over seventy one-person and group
exhibitions in the U.S., Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, and Germany.
Teaching painting has included:

Princeton University, 1980-’81
The University of South Carolina, 1990
The Atlanta College of Art, 1993, (also 1990, 1987)
