Herbert Creecy
Herbert Creecy, best known for his impressive abstract expressionist
paintings, was born in 1939 in Norfolk, Virginia, and grew up
in Buckhead, the fashionable district of Atlanta, Georgia; after
attending the University of Alabama, he graduated from the Atlanta
School of Art in 1964. His paintings have been chosen by many
of America's finest museums, including the Whitney Museum of American
Art in New York, NY, the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington,
DC, the Akron Art Museum in Akron, OH, the High Museum of Art
and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia in Atlanta, GA,
the Indianapolis Museum of Art in Indianapolis, IN, the Norton
Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, FL, the UCF Museum of Art in
Orlando, FL, and the Housatonic Museum of Art in Bridgeport, CT,
which helped him gain fame as was one of Georgia's most important
artists. Although cancer claimed his life in 2003, Herb left behind
a legacy of paintings, drawings and sculptures for all to enjoy.
